Olympus is a Japanese manufacturer of cameras and lenses, with a fantastic heritage, particularly with the OM series of film cameras from 1972 through to 2002. Olympus now concentrates on the micro four thirds system with products in the Olympus Pen range and also now the Olympus OM-D range. Launched in late 2012, the most popular cameras today are the Olympus OM-D E-M5 and the Olympus Pen E-PL5. Both the Olympus Pen and Olympus OM-D ranges are compatible with Olympus micro four thirds lenses as well as micro four thirds lenses from other brands, such as Panasonic, Sigma, Samyang and Tokina. 

In 2012 and 2013, Olympus released additions to their range of micro four thirds lenses, with their key prime lenses being the Olympus 12mm f/2, the Olympus 45mm f/1.8, the Olympus 60mm f/2,8 macro, Olympus 75mm f/1.8. The Olympus range of zoom lenses include the Olympus 9-18mm, the Olympus 12-50mm, the Olympus 40-150mm and Olympus 75-300mm lenses.

Olympus also manufacture a wide range of digital compact cameras. The most popular of these include the Olympus tough range of cameras, the Olmpus XZ range of cameras and the Olympus SZ/ Olympus SH superzoom cameras.
