Park Cameras was founded by Reg Atkins in Burgess Hill in 1971. Now over forty years on we have forged a reputation across the photographic industry as one of the top independent photographic retailers in the UK, serving the needs of all photographers from enthusiasts to professionals, through the very highest level of customer service. Together our devoted team has over 400 years' experience within the photographic industry, which we are pretty proud of!

  Tell us about yourself
I left school in 1976 and having been a keen amateur photographer I focused on working in the photographic retail sector in London. I joined Park Cameras 20 years ago as they were innovative in their approach to the latest technology as they are now. With 20 years' experience at Park Cameras, it has been fantastic seeing the business evolve with the highlight being the move to our state of the art showroom a few years ago. Here customers can touch and try a huge number of the products we sell. We cater for both professionals and amateurs of all ages.

Chris, what does your role involve?
My job involves the overall management of the store, so the look and feel as well as the team of staff in the showroom. It's my job to make sure we offer the best possible service to our customers and to ensure that my team receive regular training on the products we stock.

What's your favourite photographic product at the moment?
I really like the Panasonic range of Compact System Cameras. They are the closest thing to a Digital SLR but are of a lighter weight and are smaller. They have a great range of lenses and accessories too. Their cameras are built well and are extremely reliable.

Tell us an interesting / funny fact about yourself
Well, I've been selling Cokin filters since they launched in 1978 and I know all their 200 codes and effects. My team regularly test me and I have wondered whether I should make it my 'Mastermind' subject!
 
     
     
 

Tell us about yourself
In 1988 I started working in a small shop in Hove that specialised in selling new and collectable Leica equipment. After six years I moved to a company in Worthing selling mainly Minolta cameras.

Whilst working there I became very good friends with Anthony Sinfield, who is our resident Training Manager here at Park Cameras.

In 1997 I teamed back up with Anthony and started working for Park Cameras and I've been here ever since. Digital was still in its infancy but we embraced this and the market has grown ever since. In just this short period of time we have seen a lot of changes in the photographic industry and it's great to work in such an evolving market. It really makes my job very exciting.

Martin, what does your role involve?
My job involves the smooth running of the showroom floor on a day to day basis, keeping our staff well informed of sales promotions and special offers that our customers can benefit from. Training our staff is key to the success of Park Cameras, so I ensure that the team are kept up to speed on the latest products by delivering training and coaching them. We continually strive to make the Park Cameras experience pleasurable, informative and worthwhile every time.

What's your favourite photographic product at the moment?
To be very honest all new products are exciting, but the new Nikon D4 camera is my favourite product at the moment.

Tell us an interesting / funny fact about yourself
Well not funny but strange! Being in the trade for so long I have a habit of naming a camera, brand and model number, just by the sound of the shutter, and not by sight!
 
     
     
  Tell us about yourself
I’ve always been interested in Photography from a young age, but my passion for macro photography began 6 years ago as I started work at an orchid nursery. I became fascinated with the intricate details and colours of the orchids and developed my knowledge and skills at using macro lenses and equipment to capture the flowers in all their glory. When seeking new work it seemed obvious to choose a career in the photographic industry – developing my passion for the art.

When I started work at Park Cameras three years ago I had to learn to keep up with our fast-paced industry, with constant new releases and promotional offers. It’s a very different world to that of an orchid nursery where watering was of the highest priority! I’ve been lucky enough to experience various roles at Park Cameras and I have to say that working in the mini lab, showroom and contact centre has been a fantastic and varied experience.

Sarah, what does your role involve?
I manage and oversee the day to day administrative duties in our contact centre, which entails responding to incoming emails, keeping on top of the department’s administrative duties as well assisting with the sensor cleaning service we provide. I also administrate our School of Photography courses and 1-2-1 training sessions.

What's your favourite photographic product at the moment?
A very recent favourite product of mine is the brand new Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD lens. This lens is the perfect alternative to the Canon 24-70mm lens which has recently been discontinued. This is the first 24-70mm lens build with an Image Stabilisation system (VC), which to me is by far the best currently available. I was so impressed with the quality of this lens that I would buy one myself.

Tell us an interesting / funny fact about yourself
I was once photographed making-up a decorative orchid display, which was published in a book written by a very famous orchid grower and author. The photographer in question was the world famous Clive Nichols.
