Sony line up of DSLR’s is not exactly the easiest line up to understand with the Sony Alpha a450 slotting in just below the Alpha a500 and above the Alpha a380.

As a halfway house between the two, you gain the ergonomics of the a5 series but the LCD and autofocus of the a3 series.

The camera is more akin with the a5 series than the a3’s, though it shares the autofocus and screen of its little brothers that’s about where the similarities finish.

What really stands out is that it shares the same sensor and therefore the high image quality of the a550 rather than the next model up the a500, the two a5 series are otherwise are very similar to the alpha a450.

More than the Alpha A350

In fact it’s easier to talk about what the a450 doesn’t have in comparison; it only lacks the large vari-angle screen and Phase Detection autofocus of the Alpha a500 and a550 but has a similar body design dropping a little due to the fixed screen. It predictably shares the large long life battery and the larger viewfinder of the a5 series.

Feature packed DSLR Camera; Alpha a450

The main problem with the a450 is that it doesn’t bring anything new to the party it completes the Sony line rather than competes within it, obviously the differences between them are quite minor but as a result the Sony range offers perhaps the best choice of any manufacturer.

Since Sony’s arrival in the DSLR market back in 2006 Sony have been, what is seen by many, aggressively seeking market share. With comparatively cheap bodies, certainly in relation to the nearest Canon or Nikon, they offer some of the best value digital SLR’s on the market.

The a450 is the epiphany of the Sony philosophy a great value body which is has far more than you would expect from a body that is priced at a similar point to the entry level Canon or Nikon.
