The New Olympus E-450

Olympus released an update to there entry level E-420 in the middle of 2009 in the form of the E-450.

Based on the same ultra compact body design but with an upgraded processor, screen quality, the truepic III+, giving faster processing and greater continuous shooting ideal for any aspiring sports or wildlife photographers and new art filters, removing the need for any work on the computer.

In addition Olympus have included the new ‘Art Filters’. Pop Art, Pin Hole and Soft Focus for addional creative effect.

Thankfully Olympus have kept the same high quality standard lens, which unlike most other manufactures is a very good, and benefits from the Four Thirds design and results in a very compact lens to match the body.

The E-450 shares may of the same internals of its bigger brother the E-520 but importantly lacks the image stabilisation built into the body and Live View on the rear LCD which can be a very handy tool. Also due to its more compact nature has a less powerful battery resulting in less shots per charge.

Of course their build quality, especially at this end of the market, is something Olympus can be proud of and the E-450 is no exception.
