Example Itinerary - Namibian Photographic Safari 2010

In partnership with Your Safari, we have come up with an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness and capture Namibia at its finest. What follows is a brief overview of what you can expect from our Namibian Safari 2010:

Day One

You leave London Heathrow for your overnight flight to Windhoek via Frankfurt.

Day Two

Upon arriving in Windhoek you will be met by Kathryn (Your Safari's tour guide) and driven west through the desert to the coast. Here you will spend the first three nights of your Namibian tour in the quirky seaside town of Swakopmund.

Day Three

The morning finds you out in the desert with world famous guide, Tommy Collard. The sand dunes alone are breathtaking but Tommy will also show you the Namib's rare endemic reptiles, arachnids and insects for some close up photographic opportunities.

Day Four

Today we travel the short distance to Walvis Bay where we pick up our boat and head off out into the ocean. Namibia's marine life is spectacular with Cape Fur Seals, two varieties of dolphin, pelicans, gannets and cormorants. Busy harbours are always fascinating and with our own private charter we can tailor make the trip to suit your own requirements.

Afternoons in Swakopmund can be spent out in the desert on foot, on quad bikes or in a saddle, in the local townships, on the beach or in the town itself with its bizarre Bavarian architecture.

Day Five

You head north today along the coastal salt road to Henties Bay before heading off into the desert once more towards Damaraland. This area is home to Namibia's wild desert elephant and rhino and we pass the country's highest mountain, the Brandberg. Your overnight stop is at Bambatsi Guest Farm perched high on a hill overlooking a floodlit waterhole.

Day Six and Seven

You travel the short distance to the Andersson Gate and the entrance to Etosha National Park for the first of your six nights in this world famous wildlife sanctuary. Your first two nights will be spent in Okaukeujo Camp. This western section of the park is famous for its wide open vistas where endless lines of herbivores trek daily to the camp's floodlit waterhole followed closely by the ever present lions prides.

Day Eight and Nine

You head further into the park this morning to the wooded central area surrouding Halali camp. Here thick Mopani woodland meets the waving grasslands that roll all the way down to the salt pan's edge. The camp's own waterhole is spectacular at night and often offers opportunities to view large herds of elephants, black rhino, honey badgers and even the elusive leopard.

Day Ten and Eleven

Your last two nights in the park are spent in the most easterly camp, Namutoni. This spectacular area is home to the majority of the park's giraffe and is the only place in Africa to see the world's smallest antelope - the diminuitive Damara Dik-Dik

Day Twelve

After a final morning safari you leave the peace and quiet of the park to head south on the road back to the capital. Windhoek is an unsual African city, small and modern with local craft markets and outdoor cafes so you will have no difficulties in filling your afternoon before heading back to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.
