Nikon D7000

Wednesday 15th September Nikon have release the new D7000, like with many recent products its one of the worst kept secrets around, but just in case you missed the news announcements the new Nikon D7000 is packed with tons of new feature and make it probably one of the biggest technological leaps from Nikon since they switch over to CMOS sensors.

Although the D7000 doesn’t replace the (still) current D90, it offers what many users will see as an ideal replacement. Positioned between the D300s and D90, the D7000 offers a direct comparison to Canon’s EOS 60D.

'With obvious ergonomics taken from the D300s the D7000 is still a more compact design, think a D90 on steroids!'

Although pitched at the same market as the D90, the D7000 has a far more professional feel. With obvious ergonomics taken from the D300s the D7000 is still a more compact design, think a D90 on steroids! Due to this new compact design Nikon have had to create a new vertical grip and battery for the camera,

Unlike most recent Nikons the D7000 now features a complete new high resolution CMOS sensor; this packs a whooping 16.2 megapixels into an APS-C sized sensor and combined with an extremely wide ISO range (from 100-6400),  makes the D7000 ideal camera for a jack of all trades.

For those of you keen on HD Nikon have finally upgraded to full 1080p and although the frame rate is fixed at 24fps its certainly heading in the right direction.

I, for one, am extremely excited about getting my hands on the D7000. The camera seems to offer what any amateur or professional could dream of. The D7000 looks to be a ‘mini(ish)’ version of the D300s but with tons of extras built-in.

What this space for a hands on review, coming soon!
