The Aim of the course:

To explain how best to use your Nikon D7000, to navigate the comprehensive menu display and to give the photographer more confidence in exploring the wide range of manual controls available.

• Focusing 39 Point focusing explained including Auto, Dynamic & Single point AF & 3D tracking
• Exposure modes explained Programmed, Shutter / Aperture Priority and Manual
• Using the Histogram display to gauge exposure
• Metering modes explained – Matrix , Centre Weighted and Spot
• Resolution / Image quality settings – Jpeg & Raw and the benefits of using RAW
• ISO Film speed selection – Auto and manual ISO sensitivity
• Menu controls – navigation of the menu
• Use of the Info button
• White Balance explained – AWB vs Manual White Balance selection
• Picture Styles explained – Standard, Neutral , Vivid and Monochrome settings
• Playback options – Calendar view mode explained
• Custom Settings Menu ( My Menu) explained
• Dust deletion explained – Automatic / manual sensor cleaning modes
• Use of DX lenses – lens magnification explained
• Use of the Live View facility – Wide, Normal and Face Priority autofocus mode modes
• Use of the HD Video recording mode – various recording options explained
• iTTL Flash / Creative Lighting System explained
• Using the Retouch Menu – D-Lighting, Red-eye correction, Trim, Monochrome, Filter effects, Colour balance and Image overlay
• Updating Firmware – Why is this necessary?
• Use of related accessories – Nikon Capture Pro 2, Nikon NX2, GPS Unit & other related accessories




Course Timings:

Skills requirement:
As this is a Level 2 course it is assumed that those attending will have a basic knowledge of photography and have an understanding of exposure modes i.e. aperture and shutter priority etc or has already attended a Level 1 course such as Understanding Your Digital SLR .
